Missa L'homme armé super voces musicales The Old Opera House brings the music festival to the Old City: When from 28. When the whole of Frankfurt celebrates the opening of the New Old Town from 28 to 30 September, the Alte Oper will also be taking part in the musical programme and at the same time inviting visitors to take a look at its music festival, which is taking place at the same time. The evening of exquisite vocal art in the Kaiserdom not only spans the period from the Renaissance to modern times - like the new Old Town with its 35 reconstructed or newly planned houses - but also brings an encounter with works by this year's music festival composer György Ligeti. Time travel like this is, in a way, the speciality of the vocal ensemble Solistes XXI, which in its concerts always opens up new perspectives on epochs and styles by confronting compositions from different centuries. The programme includes Ligeti's 16-part "Lux Aeterna", a central work by the composer, written five years after "Atmosphères", the starting point of the music festival. As in "Atmosphères," there are in "Lux Aeterna," as Ligeti himself described it,
"no events, but only states; no contours and figures, but only the unpopulated, imaginary musical space, and the timbres - detached from the musical figures - become the central value."
