Summer holidays = summer slump? Not in Frankfurt! Well, most theatres are on summer break and other cultural institutions are taking it a bit easier. But there are a lot of special events and open air events. And what sometimes begins as a small cultural experiment can quickly become a permanent fixture in the cultural scene of the Main metropolis. One such case is without question the Sommerwerft Open Air Festival, which enters its sixteenth year this year. Visitors will once again be treated to an eclectic mix of theatre performances, performances, live music, children's theatre and many other attractions in 2018.
There will be concerts, theatre performances, parties, Silent Disco, Night of Dance twice, workshops, open air cinema and much more. There is also the popular FLOWMarket every Sunday and and and. The various events of the festival will take place on the eastern bank of the river Main on the grounds of the Wesel shipyard until August 5. Colourful, creative, entertaining, idiosyncratic, challenging, playful - that's what the festival is all about, put together with a lot of heart and soul. The SOMMERWERFT is an important part of Frankfurt's cultural scene and should therefore definitely be supported not only with a visit, but also with a donation, so that it can continue in 2019.
