The Ruhrpott still lies fallow and decaying. But after the crisis year 2016, so is the whole world. Two years ago, the ska punks of Sondaschule from Mühlheim an der Ruhr resisted the beautiful ugliness of the regional decline with their Top 10 album "Schön kaputt" with timpani, trumpets and offbeats. But now other guns are called for: "Schere, Stein, Papier", their new album, which will be released in July, the band's 15th anniversary year, is more political, more serious. And an urgent reaction to our time of crisis. The fun-punks grow up on it to a political band, but remain true to their black humor and devote themselves to topics such as finiteness, Amsterdam and gun licenses at Aldi with the necessary portion of tongue in cheek. "The question of all questions, in the end it's up to you: heaven or hell? Scissors, stone, paper?" it says on the first single, the album's title track. "Schere, Stein, Papier" recalls the original punk idea and is an important statement for cosmopolitanism and lived multiculturalism, as it has been celebrated in the Pott since the sixties. You have to position yourself in these times: The gap between rich and poor is widening. The stone that is set rolling stands for revolt, self-empowerment. But in the end, so the Ruhrpott heroes hope, the power of the word, of paper, triumphs: "Schere, Stein, Papier", the seventh album of the Sondaschule is a courageous musical sign for humanity.
