The career of German-Italian pianist Sophie Pacini, born in 1991, began rapidly: She made her concerto debut at the age of nine, after which the renowned piano teacher Karl-Heinz Kämmerling took over her training at the Salzburg Mozarteum, where she was also accepted into the Highly Gifted Institute. A master class with Pavel Gililov followed, as well as graduation with honors in 2011.
The year before, Sophie Pacini met Martha Argerich, who invited her to Lugano for a recital as part of her "Progetto" and has since become an important companion. Sophie Pacini's exceptional playing has earned her a number of major awards, including the Echo Klassik Prize in the category "Young Artist of the Year" in 2015 and most recently the International Classical Music Award as "Young Artist of the Year" in 2017.
Sophie Pacini has given acclaimed piano recitals as part of international festivals, including the Lucerne Piano Festival, the Ruhr Piano Festival and the Piano Festival aux Jacobins Toulouse. She has performed with numerous major orchestras, including the Camerata Salzburg, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. Several CD releases are already available from her, most recently a solo album in 2016 with works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Liszt.
