"Retronyms" Tour 2019. With his third album
"Retronyms", Carlos Cipa combines his background as a classically trained pianist and composer with his interest in experimental forms and pop. After numerous live activities in recent years, a series of collaborations and work in film and theatre, he invited various musicians into his studio for these eight pieces. On "Retronyms" improvisation meets the art of composition, acoustic and sometimes unusual instruments like the celesta meet electronic production methods or analogue synthesizers. Between the avant-garde aesthetic of the opener "fanfare" to the orchestral "senna's joy" to the closing improvisation "paon", Cipa has radically expanded his approach as a composer. Every note on this album is carefully considered, yet "Retronyms"shines with haunting vividness.
