Next Friday, 20 April, the Darmstädter Frühjahrsmess starts at the Darmstädter Messplatz. Until May 1, visitors can then again choose from a wide range of activities. The fair will be opened by Mayor Rafael Reißer at 6 p.m. in the beer garden of the Salm snack bar.
City Treasurer André Schellenberg, who is responsible for the municipal enterprise of community centers and markets, explains: "I am pleased that in a few days we will be able to usher in the spring traditionally with the spring fair. This year, 180 vendors applied to the market administration for admission to the 'Mess'. Of these, 70 shops could be considered, which will again offer a wide range of amusement and fairground rides to the guests."
The fairground rides 'Disco Cirkus', 'Break Dance' and the 'XXL Swing' with a swing height of up to 45 meters entice to fast rides. The show business 'OMNI' offers young as well as older guests with sensory illusions and special perceptions. The ride and amusement shops Skipper, Auto-Skooter, Simulator and the Giant Slide complete this offer. For the small and smallest visitors of the fair, various children's rides, such as chain carousel, children's plane, children's loop, children's carousel, traffic kindergarten and trampoline are available.
This year, the traditional "Dippe and Spice Market" will also feature a wide range of products. 23 sales shops will offer their wares here. The offer ranges from pots and pans, clothing, haberdashery to leather bags as well as ceramics, household goods and spices from all over the world. The Darmstadt Showmen's Association will also be inviting young and very young visitors to free make-up activities every day until 7 p.m. at the spring fair. Families with children might find a visit to the fair on Family Day, Tuesday, April 24 (all day) with half-price rides particularly appealing. On Monday, April 30, there will be special offers on the Messplatz under the motto "Happy Hour" until 6 p.m. and a big fireworks display at 9 p.m.
The Darmstadt Spring Fair` is open daily from 2 p.m. (snack bars from 12 p.m.) until 10 p.m.. On Sundays and public holidays, the fair opens at 12 noon and closes at 10 pm. Visitors can conveniently reach Messplatz directly using public transport on tram lines 4 and 5.
