For over 25 years, the Stereophonics from Wales have stood for a very specific rock feeling. Six of their ten studio albums have reached the top of the UK charts, they have been awarded 23 platinum awards and have sold over 8.5 million records to date. The Stereophonics will return to European stages with new material in early 2020: in their luggage the songs from their 11th longplayer "Kind". The eponymous European tour will also bring the band to Germany for five concerts in Frankfurt, Berlin, Cologne, Munich and Hamburg between January 31 and February 12.
When singer and guitarist Kelly Jones formed the band Tragic Love Company in 1992, he never dreamed that just a few years later he would be one of the UK's most high-profile frontmen. Renamed Stereophonics a year later, the band distinguished themselves from the start with a powerful rock feel that was unusual for the UK. They managed to combine the heaviness of US alternative rock with extremely melodic harmonies to create indie anthems.
The band's 1997 debut album, Word Gets Around, landed them directly at number 6 in the UK charts. Four singles managed to enter the Top 40 in their home country. Thanks to their intense live presence, the Welsh band grew their fan base. Soon the Stereophonics were considered one of the UK's most important rock bands, and in 1998 they won the BRIT Award for 'Best New Group'.
