The rhythm spectacle "STOMP" is a worldwide success - no reason for Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, the two creative minds behind "STOMP", to lay their hands in their laps. Their sound performance "STOMP" never stands still and literally bounces, jumps, slides and hammers its way through ever new worlds of sound.
What began 25 years ago with hands, feet and a few brooms has now become a sound cosmos in which everything can be found, from rhythmic still life to harmonic hellish noise, that can be acoustically extracted from the things of everyday life. The arc spans from a serenade on matchboxes to a little night music with newspaper and a sonically and visually igniting lighter staccato to paint buckets worked in flight and drum arias on huge rubber hoses hung around the hips to a grueling trash can mock battle with a bang effect.
"STOMP" is loud, "STOMP" is quiet and "STOMP" is "as fresh and exuberant as if it premiered only yesterday," according to the New York Times. Responsible for this are the stunningly idiosyncratic "STOMP" characters. With British humor and the timekeeping precision of a chronometer, they turn a working-class troupe's ordinary day into a delightfully comic treat and a deep bow to the rhythms of the world.
