Woulda,woulda bike rally! We go back to the 70s of the GDR in a bike rally. How long can we stay on the international scene? Do the protagonists prevent Biermann's expatriation, get him back or do they all have to go to the Stasi prison in Hohenschönhausen? And can our GDR team win the World Cup after all?
"red or dead" is immersive theatre as a thought experiment on contrasting courses of history. Each of the five episodes is situated in a decade of the GDR and stands on its own.
"We are interested in the GDR as an antithesis. We are interested in the dissident*s who stayed on the margins, in grey areas, and still took a position."
The GDR, constructing elegance out of reflex here, illustrates the development of a socialist and anti-fascist idea and a systemic alternative to capitalism.
