The cover of Dutch artist Sue The Night's new album is colorful, suggesting movement, a warm mood, perfectly representing the sound of this very new album. "Wanderland" the second album from Sue The Night, has a sound that playfully presents poppy melodies as well as catchy riffs and dense arrangements with a remarkable freshness - few indie pop acts manage to keep just this variety and movement constant over album length. In her home country, the Netherlands, Sue The Night was already considered a talented newcomer with her debut album "Mosaic" from 2014 and is now finally being celebrated with "Wanderland". In the Dutch charts she is currently at number 11 with her second album, in the vinyl charts even at number 4! No wonder, the album appeals to more than just the typical indie pop fans. Sometimes very danceable and moving, then again decelerated, but always with strong expression and a feeling for great melodies - influences like The War on Drugs and Florence + The Machine have clearly left their mark and shaped the sound of Sue The Night. Suus de Groot grew up in a family environment of strong women and her five-piece band is, after all, almost half female. But strong men have always influenced her too, she says, and on the direction of her music she comments, "I don't write songs for men or women, I write for people. Gender blind." "Wanderland" offers wonderfully poppy earworms like "All the Roses", "Mind Dear" or "From the Mire", but convinces above all with continuous quality and tension. Despite often melancholic lyrics, the album always remains optimistic and repeatedly builds bridges into a positive mood. Nevertheless, the album doesn't lack drama, because especially Sue's versatile voice as well as the strong arrangement conjure up powerful and unpredictable moments again and again. The album closes with "Pity Song", which was recorded live with a 21-piece orchestra. With her second album "Wanderland" Sue The Night will not remain an insider tip outside her home country for much longer! The album will be released on CD as well as white vinyl via popup-records.
