On Sunday, August 11, it is even more worthwhile than usual to pay a visit to the Transport Museum in Schwanheim (Rheinlandstraße 133). Because then VGF and HSF invite you to the big summer festival for the whole family with free admission. On the entire museum grounds there will be a colorful range of activities for young and old visitors.
There will be special shows on the outdoor area of the transport museum. Here, on the occasion of the summer festival, several construction vehicles from the VGF fleet will be presented. These are vehicles that are used for the maintenance of the street and underground infrastructure. Passengers rarely see these vehicles in daily operation. In addition, a local transport flea market will be held on the open-air site, offering numerous local transport items such as books and models.
Several play attractions at the summer festival will ensure that young visitors to the museum can not only marvel at the large trains, but also get active themselves. They will have the opportunity to let off steam on a bouncy castle and set trains in motion themselves on a model railway layout for children.
Food and drinks
The physical well-being of all guests will also be taken care of - no matter whether the sense is for something hearty from the grill or rather sweet. In addition to the food, drinks will also be offered at family-friendly prices.
Shuttle service with bus and tram vintage
On the occasion of the summer festival, a shuttle service with historic buses and trams will be set up. The tram veterans run every 15 minutes from the Westbahnhof via Festhalle/Messe, Hauptbahnhof and Stresemannallee/Gartenstraße to the Transport Museum and back. It is possible to get on and off the bus at all stops along the route. The veteran buses shuttle from Südbahnhof to the Transport Museum and back every 30 minutes without stopping. The schedule with all trips can be downloaded at http://www.hsf-ffm.de/sommerfest. The tariff and transport conditions of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) apply to travel on the historic buses and trains. However, bicycles are not allowed on the buses. Tickets can be purchased at the RMV ticket machines at the stops, unfortunately ticket sales are not possible on the trains of the special service.
VGF and HSF are looking forward to a sunny day in Schwanheim and many guests who want to experience the diverse history of Frankfurt's public transport up close.
