On his new album, the politically and socially ever vigilant hit musician Chris de Burgh presents 15 new, self-penned songs whose lyrics provide quite a bit of food for thought in terms of content. Already the album title "A Better World" sets the lyrical intention and tone of the song collection. Although the new songs do not deal exclusively with core issues of the day, many of them are reflected in the lyrics. Elsewhere on the album, meanwhile, Chris placed material that addresses much of the content that has always uniquely and in its own way colored his subject matter: love, war, daring, being on the road, exploring and returning home, the past, present - and future. The songs offer direct and clear insights into the thoughts and feelings of one of the most meaningful and accomplished songwriters in pop music history. During his long, sustained career, he has sold over 50 million albums and played to sold-out crowds worldwide. Chris de Burgh is in high demand. The run on tickets for his tour in early summer 2017 shows how much, a good reason to extend the guest tour through Germany, which started at the beginning of May, by nine concerts into July. Among other things, he will have songs from his 21st studio album - "A Better World" - in his luggage. The title of this release (Starwatch Entertainment/Sony), whose cover, painted with a few strokes, shows a colorful flower growing out of the parched earth, is programmatic. "Bethlehem", the surprisingly rocking first single (in the spirit of his earlier edgy-tempo songs such as 1982's "Don't Pay The Ferryman"), poetically relates world events to the key biblical location. The song "Homeland" even focuses on the refugee issue and shows Chris de Burgh as a lyrical contemporary chronicler. 15 tracks comprise the record, which is complex in content, musically varied and yet coherent in itself. It contains everything that fans love about the Irish singer/songwriter's compositions: Ballads and epic plus compositions that are Irish folk tinged, but also come across as subtly swinging at times. Chris de Burgh's shows wouldn't be well-rounded, of course, if he didn't also play his biggest hits like "The Lady In Red", "Missing You" or "Don't Pay The Ferryman" as well as "High On Emotion".
