American Roots: Music from New York City
.The New York octet Hazmat Modine exude a lot of "hot air" - not only because of their three horns (tuba, saxophone, trumpet), but also because they've cooked up an unprecedented range of facets there, expanded by harmonica, violin, two guitars and a drum kit.
What swirls and dances, howls and laughs, grows out of the roots of Blues, Country, Klezmer, Jazz, Rockn'Roll, Balkan Beats, Calypso, African music ect pp... Already with their first CD Bahamut they were noticed in Europe in their uniqueness and rousing joy of playing. Since then the band has performed worldwide at renowned jazz, folk and world music festivals such as the Jazzfestival Berlin, the Chicago World Music Festival USA, the Sayan Ring Festival in Siberia, the Festival Musicas Do Mundo in Sines, Portugal, the Borneo Jazz Festival in Malaysia, the Vancouver Folk Festival in Canada and the Womad Festival in Wiltshire England.
