The Super Tour was directed by longtime Pet Shop Boys designer Es Devlin and choreographer Lynne Page, and the live arrangements were created with Stuart Price, who produced the Super album. When the show premiered to a sold-out season at the Royal Opera House in London last summer, it was described by the Independent newspaper as "a lively, laser-laden spectacle", while the Daily Telegraph did that "the show encompasses high culture , club culture, theatre, cinema, political satire and a crazy laser show ".
For more than 25 years, the Pet Shop Boys have been considered the inventors of the modern live music show, incorporating multimedia and theatrical elements into their productions. They have collaborated with Derek Jarman, Zaha Hadid and Sam Taylor-Johnson.
Super peaked at #3 in the UK and German album charts, making it their sixteenth top ten album in the UK. The first single "The Pop Kids" reached #1 on the Billard US Dance Club chart, where Pet Shop Boys are the most are successful duos and artists of all time.
