Swoosh Lieu: Who Moves?! - A performative montage of motivations

Boats, fences, trains, camps, the open sea, crowds in transit - these are images of migration that dominate media representation. Who makes these images and how do women* appear in them? What can images reveal and tell differently when de- and remontaged? In their new production, Swoosh Lieu take a feminist look at the topic of migration: Why do women* set themselves in motion, voluntarily or involuntarily, for generations and in different political contexts? Why do they transcend borders, what are they fighting for? Starting from a shared image viewing with moving women*, Swoosh Lieu sit down at the montage table of motivations, questioning the power of images and the privilege of the gaze, possibilities of expression and modes of perception.
