Germany and rock music - wasn't there something? No, not Westernhagen, but Krautrock: that strangely great music full of grooves and experimentation, stylistically elusive, recorded by bands with curious names. All virtues that Wucan from Dresden translates into the present as a matter of course: The band around singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Francis Tobolsky would like to put music with kick and character on the map again, and to do so they carefree help themselves from all genres, as long as the spirit is right: Without any problems, Wucan can be heard as a hard rock, psychedelic, acid folk, stoner or blues rock band, electrifyingly folding their influences into each other under their own flag: HEAVY FLUTE ROCK. From the beginning it was clear where the journey should go: Tobolsky, musically socialized in 1970, preferred to listen to rushing vinyl full of rich guitars instead of mp3. The heroes of her youth were not Rihanna or Justin Timberlake but Rory Gallagher, Free and Frumpy. "Blues Brothers Wanted!" was therefore the clear announcement she put in the ad section of a Dresden student magazine in 2012.

Not long after, she had found some like-minded people with the same philosophy and similarly long hair. Wucan was born. The chemistry was right: in 2014 the EP "Vikarma" was released - on vinyl, of course. On the disc, produced by Eloy keyboardist Michael Gerlach, all the trademarks of Wucan could already be found: Psychedelic riffs, progressive structures and again and again folky moments, not least due to Tobolsky's flute playing. Critics and fans alike were thrilled, and the EP, limited to 500 copies, sold out in no time.

Immediately, Wucan found themselves playing festivals like "Hammer Of Doom" and supporting Sienna Root live, where Tobolsky and her cohorts earned a reputation as an explosive live band. With their debut, released in autumn 2015, Wucan easily crossed the magical threshold from insider tip to celebrated newcomer: "Sow The Wind" is an energetic heavy rock statement that, despite all its directness, is not too shy for herbaceous extravagances. There, as in the song "Wandersmann", the whole spectrum of bands is celebrated for 16 minutes, hopping from folk to funk to psychedelic and incidentally quoting the Bhagavad Gita in German - who does that anymore?

Meanwhile, the band structure has solidified: Wucan now consists of guitarist Tim George, bassist Patrik Dröge and drummer Phil Knöfel in addition to Tobolsky. After the release of "Sow The Wind", the band went on tour: By the end of 2016, the band had played around 120 gigs, and the number of fans grew steadily with each one. The force of nature that Wucan brings to the stage is also to be reflected on their second album, for which the band once again holed up in Berlin's Big Snuff Studios (Kadavar, Heat). Even stronger than the previous album, "Reap The Storm" will deliver what Wucan promises live: a massive rock sound, clear and organic at the same time. The band is ready to reap the storm they've sown and pour it out with full hands on those whose hearts beat for good music.
