There is no question that great things can be expected when the queen of heavy rock, the brightest star of the symphonic rock scene and without question Finland's most internationally renowned female voice Tarja Turunen along with her band goes on tour together with one of the most successful, enduring power metal bands in the world, who have shaped an entire genre with their unique mix of fast progressive metal and their catchy melodies, the fathers of symphonic metal Stratovarius! Tarja achieved stardom as a soprano, composer and songwriter during her nine-year stint as the co-founder, voice and face of Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, with whom she achieved various gold and platinum awards worldwide over the years. This led to a no less successful solo career when Tarja decided to go her own way in 2005. Since then she has been performing her Christmas shows in Finland and now internationally every December. Tarja's extraordinary ability to combine rock and classical music has also led to various collaborations with Alice Cooper, Within Temptation, German electro artist Schiller, Doro Pesch and the British "Father of Tubular Bells" Mike Oldfield. The unique combination of Tarja's classical and rock influences is still most evident on her solo albums. Of these, four successful multi-gold and platinum albums have emerged to date. The debut "My Winter Storm" (2007), followed by "What Lies Beneath" (2010), and "Colours In The Dark" (2013) and her most recent album "The Brightest Void" / "The Shadow Self" (2016). NFollowing the release of the unexpected and successful Dark Christmas album "From Spirits And Ghosts (Score For A Dark Christmas) "and related concerts in 2017, Tarja is now ready to release another compilation of her latest heavy rock albums with her second live video and second live CD. Following the concept of its predecessor, ACT II will be released in summer 2018.
No less important, if not more important, than albums and collaborations for Tarja, however, is being live on stage in front of her audience, she has performed more than 800 shows worldwide during her career so far. Stratovarius is one of the most influential, successful and consistent power metal bands in the world. With their unique mix of fast progressive metal and their catchy melodies, the Finnish band has shaped an entire genre. What began in 1985 under the name Black Water represents an impressive track record with 16 studio albums, ten Top 5 placements in their home country of Finland as well as over 40 other top chart positions worldwide and over 30 years of concerts & tours around the world, culminating in the band's three current studio albums: "Elysium", "Nemesis" and "Eternal". All milestones in their sound, creativity and songwriting. Stratovarius is one of the few bands that manages to create one magical song after another. 29 of these exceptional songs, all fan favorites (and there could have been many more!) Stratovarius recently presented on their long-awaited "Best Of" album. They also decided it was high time that the 16 studio albums and their rare live releases, were reissued in high quality packaging with new artwork, extensive liner notes and rare and re-recorded bonus material. Of course, all albums are also freshly mastered.
The reissue series has already started with one of the most successful and popular albums "Destiny" (1999) as well as the cult live album "Visions Of Europe" (1998). In summer 2018 the series will be continued with the not less successful and popular albums "Episode" (1996) and "Visions" (1997). Now these two great Finnish exceptional artists have decided to go on tour together which is called A Nordic Symphony '18. And not only those who know the history of both acts will be able to imagine that we can expect a lot more here than just unique, outstanding concerts of Tarja Turunen and her band and Stratovarius!
