Originally an English punk/rock/synth pop band formed in London in 1979 by London promoter, DJ and manager Jock Mcdonald.
The rock music blend, drawn from the most primal electropunk, forms the basis for idiosyncratic songs in which Mcdonald recounts his obsessions and passions with distinctive spoken word vocals. Often, these haunting lectures are about postmodern death worship and Catholicism ("Jesus Lived Six Years Longer Than Kurt Cobain"), horror movies ("Drac's Back"), apocalypse ("the four horseman"), or about prominent or
historical people ("Brigitte Bardot", "Henry the 8th").
In addition to their original compositions, the Bollock Brothers have become known for their exceptional covers of Sex Pistols, Led Zeppelin, Serge Gainsbourg, Aphrodite's Child, e.t.c., among others. Particularly outstanding is the cover of "Faith Healer" (Alex Harvey Band), which was released as a single due to its huge popularity.
In the early days, the band attracted attention with bizarre publicity stunts: The 1983 album, which covered an electric version of the Sex Pistols' "Never mind the Bollocks", also featured vocals by Michael Fagan, the man who became famous for invading the English Queen's bedroom in 1982.
For a short time in 1980, Jimmy Lydon, the brother of Johnny Rotten also appeared on vocals.
