The Cat Empire are coming on tour this fall
The Cat Empire is coming to make us all happy with their organized chaos! In other words: THE CAT EMPIRE are making the long way from Australia to Germany to present the tracks of their new and today released album "Rising With The Sun" live on an extensive tour. Whoever has experienced the mob from Melbourne once on stage might be surprised that this wild power can also work in the studio. Singer Felix Riebl told the Syker Kreiszeitung last year, when his band played at Hurricane and Southside and was one of the best acts of the twin festivals: "It's fascinating: The band plays differently in the studio. Things work that wouldn't work live: Decrescendi to very intimate moments or some experimental stories. Live it's about creating a festival atmosphere, a dream world that listeners can return to. I wouldn't want to miss either one." Hardly anything more needs to be said. Except perhaps that THE CAT EMPIRE blend jazz, ska, reggae, hip-hop, funk and even klezmer so carefree in their musical eccentricity that at first you almost get a knot played in your ear until it bursts and pure joy overcomes you. The core lineup consists of six musicians, all of whom are active on multiple instruments except for drummer Will Hull-Brown and DJ Jumps Khadiwala. On tour they are usually accompanied by the Empire Horns, who play trumpet, trombone and saxophone, and sometimes by surprise guests. A great formation for great parties and beaming guests, which has gained a reputation as a legendary live band over the years. To keep it that way, the songs on the new record are designed for the stage. As Riebl says so beautifully about it: "Big songs for the big stage. Refrains to sing along with. And the rhythms work. Immediately."
