The search for the original sound is not a phenomenon that is exhausted in the study of baroque music. One of the orchestras that has underlined this particularly impressively in recent years is the ensemble Les Siècles. The ensemble's approach to music-making, which focuses on the tonal characteristics of different centuries, is already reflected in its name. The orchestra, founded in 2003 by François-Xavier Roth, has already impressively demonstrated on several occasions at the Alte Oper that the performance of works even from the classical modern era can be associated with entirely new listening experiences. The musicians will stick to the late 19th and early 20th centuries on their coming evening at the Alte Oper. Highlights are promised not only by Mussorgsky's cycle "Pictures at an Exhibition" in the shimmering timbres of Ravel's orchestral version, but also by Stravinsky's Violin Concerto, to which the soloist Vilde Frang has a special approach that is as virtuosic as it is ironic.
