Die Kammer is an eight-piece band with a purely acoustic line-up. It was founded on December 22, 2011 by Matthias Ambré and Marcus Testory. Standard instrumentation is polyphonic vocals accompanied by 2 guitars, cello, 2 violins, tuba, bass and drums. However, other unusual instruments such as glockenspiel, melodica and rarer percussion instruments are also used.
The lyrics are in English. The Chamber divides their creative periods into so-called "Seasons", which are themed. Currently, they are in Season III which started on February 5, 2016. Under the name "The Chamber Minimized", Testory and Ambré also perform as a duo or in other scaled-down lineups.
