For 20 years, The Chemical Brothers have continued to redefine the idea of staging electronic music live. In addition to their revolutionary and innovative albums, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons have set the standard at their performances with their spectacular visuals, superlative films and lightshows.
From humble beginnings in dark London clubs, they went to the highest heights, to great halls, to headline sets at all the world's great festivals. But always it was about the same idea: the performance should create a transcendent audio-visual space in which the audience should lose themselves.
Working with their longtime directors and visual artists Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall, the duo has continued to evolve and re-evolve their show, traveling the globe with the hallucinogenic results-without ever putting themselves front and center.
The perfectly synchronized symbiosis of image and sound has an earthquake-like effect on viewers and listeners alike, leaving everyone amazed and happy. This is certainly true for the upcoming concerts that The Chemical Brothers have already announced. The focus is on the new and ninth studio album "No Geography", which was released in April.
Nfter six number one records in a row in UK charts, after Brit and NME awards, four Grammys, after quite a few gold and platinum records, the two go all the way backwards and used once again the equipment from the beginning of their sensational career on the new record. The individual sound of the samplers and synths from the 90s, when the Brothers, together with other British colleagues, took dance music to a new level with Big Beat, gives the tracks a creative and - as they are used here - aggressive touch and make "No Geography" their most experimental record in a long time. The driving beats and breakbeats combine with psychedelic, atmospheric soundscapes to evoke multiple echoes of 90s music.
Just imagining how the new tracks will be linked with projections, lasers, strobes and psychedelic imagery makes the excitement and anticipation for the Chemical Brothers' performances grow immeasurably. In November, they'll be coming to Frankfurt's Festhalle for one of their exclusive shows.
