The lack of self-awareness evokes in the citizen a fear of disorder, but the external order seems unable to establish the internal one.
He remains trapped in the contradictions because he lacks the courage to transgress boundaries.
And although he realizes at the end that he remains inactive, he evades the responsibility to act because, to all appearances, he accepts the boundaries set before him.
Kafka-like, the character remains stuck in the process and fails to make the transformation break through the resistance.
