Since a dragon has been seen in the area, the inhabitants of the small village live in fear and terror. Only the shepherd's son, who sticks his nose in books every spare minute and is well versed in natural history and fairy tales and has read a lot about dragons, goes to meet him.
He finds out that the dragon is quite different from many of his kind, who love to steal princesses, breathe fire, and panic people. This dragon just wants to be left alone. Soon the two discover many things in common. For the dragon is also literate and loves poetry.
But when the villagers, in their fear, ask St. George for help, the friends must come up with something. This children's book by the author of the classic THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS is a wonderful story about friendship and overcoming prejudice, full of wit and charm.
