The Frankfurt Complaints Choir was founded on Goethe's 260th birthday of all days on August 28, 2009 as a project of the Frankfurter Kunstverein. The first performance then took place on the day of the Bundestag elections on 27 September 2009 in the stone house in Frankfurt. It probably could or even should have been the last one. Who knows? But tough, as the Frankfurter is now times, was simply sung on and so has developed in every respect a free project choir.
New texts and songs were and are written and so it went on and on. Since 2012 there has been a theme each year, which then becomes a programme.
The choir is democratic and that in the best sense. So there are lyric groups and meetings. Every new song and program is voted on - indeed, it must be approved by the choir. "There is's not" there was already, but more often a "This we sing!". Also, during the rehearsal, there is still a lot of tweaking and fiddling. After all, no song has yet fallen from the sky.
In the first years, the choir had a very experienced arranger, lyricist, music composer and piano drummer: Dr. Hans-Joachim Steinbrück. He passed away in January 2015 after a long serious and, above all, treacherous illness.
