Five years of engagements and roaring deer (that was the name of the episodes the ensemble Stalburg Theater has now brought to the stage nearly 200 times) are enough - for's first, anyway. But that doesn't mean Mamma and Babba Hesselbach will now practice stage abstinence - quite the opposite. The Stalburg Theater ensemble, together with director Manfred Roth, rummaged through the treasure chest of early Hesselbach episodes from HR radio and found the archetype of a classic, "Das Dreckrändche", and a largely unknown gem, "Die Diplomatische Krankheit".
.In the radio play version of "Das Dreckrändsche" Mamma - despite all the "cool objectivity" of her god husband Karl - actually makes acquaintance with the court, which never happened in the TV series. We can therefore look forward to the verdict when Marie Eleonore Hesselbach vigorously intervenes to defend her housewife honor and demands that the judge punish her neighbors. Until it comes to that, we have already learned a lot about the fine line between impudence and insult, and also which way the author Wolf Schmidt recommends us - not without a wink - through the mouth of son Willi Hesselbach.
That more than 50 years ago hardly other issues than today have moved the Hesse, also confirms us the "Diplomatic disease": We learn how to cure all diseases in general - no wonder that in the end the diplomatic disease also has to give way, albeit with unexpected consequences.
