Vormarch. A multitude of small German states. In 1834, the end of the French Revolution was 35 years ago when the pamphlet Der Hessische Landbote was secretly distributed in the Grand Duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt. In the pamphlet, the nobility and the upper classes are accused of exploiting the peasants. One of the authors is the medical student Georg Büchner, a member and co-founder of the secret organization for human rights. The action is followed by arrests and Büchner's flight to Strasbourg and later to Zurich. How does he take stock of the society and politics of the time from a distance?
