In recent years there has been a revival of interest in historic orangeries, and some have been restored. Close to us there is the orangery in Bad Homburg. At the end of the 17th century Landgrave Friedrich II of Hesse-Homburg had the orangery built in the palace park in order to build up a collection of citrus plants, as almost all princely houses do. Landgrave Ferdinand lived in the apartment on the upper floor of the Orangery until his death in 1866, with whom the line of his house became extinct. To this day, the Orangery is used as a wintering house for citrus and other potted plants.

The lecture will take place in the Siesmayersaal, Siesmayerstraße 63. Text source and further information about this event: https://www.palmengarten.de/#/de_DE/index/index
