Shoegaze / Post Punk / Minimal Wave concert at KESSELHAUS
Music like the fading memory of a dream: THE KVB, the postpunk/threampop duo formed 5 years ago in Southampton and now based in Berlin, are doing a lot of things right. Meanwhile Portishead man Geoff Barrow has signed them to the Invada label - on which, after their already fourth album "Of Desire" last year, another EP, "Fixation/White Walls", recently followed. Their sound follows a deceptive Pink Floyd-as-ambient-act aesthetic, draws elective affinities to Scott Walker, Death In Vegas and Roxy Music (with Brian Eno), and is, according to at least one colleague recently, "the better draft of The xx". We'll just let that stand here. Recently confirmed are Suir from Frankfurt, like THE KVB a male/female duo, also walking on the tracks of dark electronics, postpunk and new wave.
