How is it that a person holds unswervingly to a dream, a destiny, no matter what happens to him? The Käthchen von Heilbronn, daughter of an armourer, follows Count Wetter vom Strahl wherever he goes. In doing so, she obeys a dream that is more real, more tangible to her than all the clatter of war, seduction and lust for power around her. Her own father no longer knows how to help himself and sues the knight for having seduced his daughter by fraternizing with Satan.
What does the Käthchen do? She leaves her property, home and bridegroom, sleeps like a maid with the count's horses and goes to the burning castle for him.
Weather vom Strahl also had a dream about his future bride on New Year's Eve. Until he finds her, however, he must recognize mixed-up letters, survive chases, unmask a fake bride, and fight duels.
House director Niklaus Helbling will take on the grand spectacle of knights, a 19th-century box-office hit that features brilliant language.
