Anna Maria Kaufmann will make another musical debut after playing Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady." She will bring the wonderful musical "The Man of La Mancha" by Dale Wasserman and Mitch Leigh to the stage of the historic festival hall with theater director Hans-Dieter Maienschein as part of the anniversary season ("20 years of Papageno Musiktheater").

"The Man of La Mancha" is one of the classics of the Broadway musical. The original New York production ran for 2329 performances and won five Tony Awards in 1966, including Best Musical and Best Music. To this day, the musical can be found on the schedules of numerous theaters.
World-famous tunes such as the song of the "impossible dream," "Dulcinea," and "I Am I, Don Quixote" enchant and entertain.
Don Quixote is the most vivid creature of Miguel de Cervantes' poetic imagination. In Mitch Leigh's successful musical, the tragic novel character and the poet merge into one. Dale Wasserman wrote the book for the musical, Joe Darion the lyrics - including such well-known tunes as "The Impossible Dream" or "Dulcinea". When the poet is thrown into prison by the Inquisition, he must fear for his life. So he reenacts improvised scenes from his novel with his fellow prisoners - saving the manuscript and himself.
