Musical comedy loosely based on the comic opera of the same name with music by Otto Nicolai
Sir John Falstaff is going through hard times and fears he will have to give up his comfortable life if he fails to raise money. He hopes to attract the attention of two ladies from Windsor, Mrs. Fluth and Mrs. Reich, by writing them two (identical) love letters. This will put him in the company of two beautiful women who also happen to have wealthy husbands.
However, he has fallen in with the wrong crowd. Together with the villagers, they devise a plan to teach the fat faggot a lesson. Together they lure him into the forest at moonrise and appear to him disguised as elves, insects and ghosts.
An upbeat and at the same time fairy-tale comedy with the beautiful music of Otto Nicolai and in an imaginative set by Annette Finze. The production is directed by theatre director Hans-Dieter Maienschein and the well-known mezzo-soprano Pari Samar, who together have already brought successful opera productions such as Rigoletto, Tales of Hoffmann and Gianni Schicchi to the stage of the Papageno Theatre.
