THE METEORS are commonly called the "Kings of Psychobilly" or even the "Gods of Psychobilly" - and that's quite right! Because in fact THE METEORS are even more: Namely the "inventors of Psychobilly". Formed in the late 1970s as a reaction to the "authentic", very soft rockabilly sound of the time, THE METEORS were the first band to combine the unbridled energy of punk rock with the raw and primal rockabilly and rock

Granted, THE CRAMPS were working on a similar mix over in America at the same time, but their music was always far less brute and/or brutal than that of THE METEORS - and nevertheless one can say without bad conscience that THE METEORS and THE CRAMPS are the two most important Rock'n'Roll bands that were formed in the 80s (of the last century!) and that their music has been a major influence on the youth and subculture of the last 30 years!
From the very beginning, THE METEORS ensured that the youth and subculture of the last 30 years were influenced by their brute style of music, which evolved from traditional rock'n'Roll and Rockabilly with "Southern cult" and the corresponding outfit, caused quite a stir not only in England.
