Safe City is the name of the new urban district that real estate investor Jörg van der Poot wants to build in a major European city. But on the day the foundation stone is laid, a report shakes the city: Ismael, an eleven-year-old boy, has disappeared in the multicultural quarter. Was he last seen entering a police station? Or on the construction site of Safe City? What did the boy see? Jörg van der Poot and his opponent, Martin Wolff, a member of the state parliament, get into a merciless race for the truth. And while one shitstorm after another rages through the net and the demonstrators in front of the police station threaten violence, one question becomes more and more urgent: Where is Ismael?
"The Nation" is a "theatre season" with six episodes, which are shown on two different evenings. In the process, an increasingly complex picture of our present emerges with each new episode: a world full of contradictions and conflicts, which director David Bösch shows in all its shades.
