The English band around eccentric singer Robert Lloyd is considered one of the most concise, yet criminally overlooked bands of the post-punk movement of the 80s, making the heart of fans of the Joy Division era beat faster. Playing as The Prefects on the 1977 "White Riot Tour" alongside punk pioneers Buzzcocks and The Clash, The Nightingales represent a classic example of a British band making their way from punk to post-punk in the 70s.
They are considered one of the best live bands in England, and with good reason. Great guitars, stunning their singer Robert Lloyd, a genius in the league of Mark E. Smith or Nick Cave, massive especially the rhythm section with drummer Fliss Kitson (Violet Violet) and bassist Andreas Schmid (Faust).
