Psychotherapist Charles refuses to write an exculpatory report for a murderer. However, because the perpetrator is homosexual, in no time Charles finds himself facing a massive media campaign accusing him of homophobia. Yet his real motives lie elsewhere entirely. Charles does not want to give in to public opinion, but its pressure becomes an enormous burden: Charles takes refuge in religion, while his marriage threatens to fall apart. Since the spectacular stage success of "Oleanna" at the latest, the American Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet has been regarded as a specialist in the ambivalences of political correctness. Like hardly anyone else, he is able to put his finger in the open wounds of liberal society in his texts. In his new play "Der Bußfertige", which will have its German premiere in Wiesbaden, he lets the protagonist quarrel with the institutions of public life. The media, the legal system, psychoanalysis - with Mamet they come under scrutiny.
