Comedy in Two Acts by Friedrich Dürrenmatt How does a brilliant scientist react when he makes a monstrous discovery that could mean the end of humanity if it falls into the hands of power? - He plays the insane, mentally ill person and gets himself committed to a psychiatric ward. This is how the physicist Möbius does it, according to the motto: Better go mad himself than let the world become a madhouse! In the mental hospital, however, he meets two no less shrewd fellow patients. The two colleagues, the shy Einstein and the mischievous Newton, actually secret agents from East and West, are on Möbius' trail in a brutal way in order to get hold of the formula for the production of the unbeatable weapon of destruction. Obsessed with their mission, the three physicists will stop at nothing and are willing to walk over dead bodies. Until they reach the point where they drop the masks in front of each other and decide together to turn their backs on the outside world forever - so that they take their findings with them to the grave. But, "what is once thought cannot be taken back" and everything turns out very differently ...
Unruly comedy and sheer horror lie close together in Dürrenmatt's grotesque two-act play. House director K.D. Schmidt follows the three physicists from harmlessly cheerfully played madness through normality to the total insanity of a shocking satyr play.
