Oscar Wilde, the creator of Salome, managed like no other English-language author to bring the attitude to life of his time precisely to the point. The Portrait of Dorian Gray (1890), is his only novel known worldwide, as well as his most widely read and most dramatized work. The narrative focuses on the social phenomena of decadence and hedonism. "How sad to know that I grow older, but this painting always remains young". Dorian Gray's words about the portrait he modeled for become a turning point in the innocent and naive beau's life. Under the influence of Lord Henry's apparent life lessons about passion, lust and desire, Dorian transforms into a ruthless and corrupt person, focused only on personal pleasure, who, lacking any morals, destroys those around him. The Delattre Dance Company now brings this tale to the stage in a fresh, neo-classical and modern ballet version. Choreographer Stephen Delattre breathes new life into the characters with his own unique language of movement, allowing them to shine in his signature poetic ballet style. Join the young and beautiful Dorian in this dramatic and captivating story ballet, as he is swept up in the intoxication of the senses, worshipped and acclaimed like a god by those around him. Experience the darker side of social life at the time of the Fin de Siécle. Witness human weaknesses and sins such as decadence, beauty mania and unscrupulous selfishness.
