Premiered in 1998 as a small Off-Broadway show, the punk-glam country-rock musical "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" has made its triumphant way around the world, was even made into a film in 2001 starring John Cameron Mitchell, and has long been a cult favorite in the English-speaking world. Talented but internationally ignored rock chanteuse Hedwig is confronted with her own tragicomic past on her world tour: Raised as Hänsel Schmidt in East Berlin, she is persuaded by American GI Luther to relocate to the US and undergo a sex change.
Unfortunately, this goes disastrously wrong and what remains of her limb is an "Angry Inch". Abandoned and taken advantage of, neither man, nor woman, her path now leads her to the Brotfabrik Frankfurt. Little does she know that this concert will change her life forever.
