Hasso Krause has a problem: A small businessman, his company for fine leather slippers went bankrupt years ago, and he lost all his money, including his retirement savings. In order to win it back, he let himself be talked into dubious investment models by the banks, which have ruined him for good. In short, he has more debts than Greece. His lovely wife Röschen doesn't know this, because out of shame Hasso has been pretending to her for years that he goes to work and continues to earn a lot of money. In reality, he does odd jobs of a rather bizarre kind. But the money he earns is not enough. If it weren't for his good-natured friend, the psychologist Rüdiger, who constantly supports him, the financial super-GAU would have happened long ago. And the worst thing is: Röschen's dream of growing up together in luxury is unrealizable. There is more of a threat of poverty, if not prison, because of bankruptcy and the many debts. By a stupid coincidence, Hasso is mistaken one day for a man known to the experts only as the "Panther". The "Panther" is a mafia hitman. The "Panther" is supposed to do a job; for money, lots of money! And Hasso is tempted...
