The Sonics set themselves a monument already in 1965 with their debut album "Here Are The Sonics". On it was included one of their biggest hits, namely "Have Love, Will Travel ". But also "Witch" and "Psycho" were represented on the first album of the band, which was formed in 1960. Initially playing instrumental rock 'n' roll, The Sonics finally formed in 1963 after a few lineup changes. But slowly the instrumental version of Rock'n'Roll went out of fashion, so Gerry Roslie got behind the microphone, after having played only electric piano before. The Sonics scored big locally with their first two singles. Many of the Sonics' songs still rank among the prime examples of 60s garage rock. Still heavily influenced by rock and roll, they also incorporated elements of rhythm and blues. The sound of the Sonics sounds raw, wild and dynamic and distinctive due to the voice of the singer, who shouts more than sings. After that the sound became poppier and the band itself was dissatisfied with this development, so that they broke up again in 1968. However, in 1979 there was another album called "Cinderella" with the original line-up. This was due to the punk explosion of the 70s. After that, there was a long radio silence and it was not until 2007 that the band performed together again. Also in 2018 The Sonics come to Germany!
