It's actually a normal day at work for professional hitman Ralph: he's supposed to remotely liquidate a mob witness as soon as he enters the courthouse. He has reserved a room in the hotel across the street with a view of the crime scene. Everything is planned precisely, the rifle is ready. So what else can go wrong? Everything. Because the hotel room was booked twice by mistake: François Pignon, recently abandoned by his wife and in deep despair, wants to end his dreary existence here of all places. The meticulously planned assassination threatens to fail, neither of them wants to leave the room. And what's worse, as the arrival of the heavily guarded key witness draws ever closer, sad-sack Pignon believes he has found a new friend for life in Ralph. With his incessant whining, nonstop blathering and self-pity, Pignon not only jeopardizes Ralph's assignment, but slowly but surely drives the stone-cold killer insane.
