The creation process of "I See You" could hardly be in a bigger contrast to the production of the previous album "Coexist". The second album can be described as introspective, partly due to the fact that the three band members had retreated to a studio in north London with no distractions. For "I See You", on the other hand, The xx opened up their working process. The album was made in five different locations - New York, Marfa, Reykjavik, Los Angeles and in London - friends, family and companions were invited to drop in on the production, music was shared and a good time was had by all. The result is "I See You", arguably the band's best album to date!
