"You know what? Then dance now!" says the ant to the cricket, who has been surprised by the harsh winter while singing, and who begs for a little bread in her distress. And so the little cricket dances, hoping to soften the ant's heart. She dances on one leg, she dances on her hands, she dances on her head, she dances for her life, she dances with death.
Exceptional figure performer Ilka Schönbein makes her creatures dance in this scenic evening. A spider swiftly moves its many legs, a cricket wriggles and twitches amazingly lifelike, a fish, caught in a net, flaps its fins. All dance for their lives, on the boards that mean the world to them. To exist. One more time, one more little moment, one more little eternity ...
"One more day" - thinks the mayfly. One more summer - begs the cricket. One more year - begs the little old lady, creature and creator at once, I will once more make my creatures dance - for me, their creator, who gives them life. And for you, dear audience, who may give them work and bread and - your love." (Ilka Schönbein)
