The opera is a place full of love, jealousy, intrigue and revenge. Countless works are based on stories that might commonly be called detective novels. The Papageno Music Theatre has compiled a selection of these "opera detective stories" and sheds light on these murderous goings-on in a concert that focuses entirely on the shady characters of the opera world.
The Bajazzo - The Comedians Are Coming

In the Calabrian village of Montalto, a troupe of actors arrives. Canio, the aging head of the troupe and husband of the beautiful Nedda, jealously watches to make sure no one gets too close to his wife. However, his sweetheart has secretly fallen in love with one of the village farmers - Silvio. Canio dislikes the fact that his wife is so idolized; he sets clear boundaries between his group's acting on stage and real life. His Nedda hears this warning, but is too enamored to heed it. During their tryst in the pasture, the lovers are caught by Tonio, but Silvio is able to escape undetected. Tonio, also a comedian in the acting troupe, has his own eye on Nedda. He persuades Canio to set a trap for his unfaithful wife on stage.
