Seattle gave rock'n'roll legends like Jimi Hendrix, Heart, Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Since then, a steady stream of top-tier bands has flowed from the northwestern U.S. city to the rest of the rock world. All girl quartet Thunderpussy continue this fine tradition, their eponymous debut album (on Republic Records) taking rock and roll into the 21st century with its loud and hard-hitting songs. In August 2018, the four tough girls will come to Germany: on August 12, 2018, they will rock that the shreds fly in Munich at the Backstage Club, on August 14, 2018, in Frankfurt at the Nachtleben and on September 3, 2018, in Hamburg at the HeadCrash. From the US Northwest come numerous women who rock in the first league. Sister Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart, for example, L7, Bikini Kill and Hole come from this corner. And now Thunderpussy. With Molly Sides on mic, Whitney Petty (guitar), Leah Julius (bass) and Ruby Dunphy (drums), rock and roll has become a good bit more female again. "People talk about magic," says guitarist Whitney, describing the audience's reaction to Thunderpussy. "It's a kind of voodoo that happens between Molly and I, a kind of cosmic connection. She has this power. Somehow I'm enchanted by her when I play. We're all enchanted by her." Frontwoman Molly Sides promptly returns the compliment, "in truth, I feel the same way about Whitney, Leah and Ruby - we're on this journey together." The magic also worked on Mike McCready, his signature guitarist for Pearl Jam. He produced the song "Velvet Noose," which is included on the band's recently released debut album, Thunderpussy (Republic Records). The rest of the production was handled by renowned sound magician Sylvia Massey (Tool, Aerosmith, Sheryl Crow, Johnny Cash and many more). The single "Speed Queen" already gives powerful gas. "The Speed Queen is a mystical and magical woman who roars across the country on her motorcycle," Whitney explains. "No one knows where she comes from or where she's going, but she changes everyone she meets. I was thinking about Molly when I wrote the song." Musically, the number "Badlands" could be a cross between Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith, "a love story of two outlaws on the run," Molly explains. Guitarist Whitney concludes, "All my life I've loved rock and roll. You either have it or you don't. If you find it, nurture it like a wild animal, tame its wild energy, but not too much. That's what it's all about." Text source and more information about this event: https://batschkapp.tickets.de/de/tour/1000304-thunderpussy
