After a 9-year album abstinence, Nick 13 and his Tiger Army reported back a few weeks ago - just in time for the band's 20th anniversary - and earned not only an enthusiastic fanbase but also critical praise from a wide variety of corners. On their fifth longplayer "V ----" the band from L.A. again builds unique bridges between Roy Orbison and early Misfits and takes an impressive bow to the rock and pop of the early 60s. Once again, the band's charismatic head manages to unleash completely dust-free melodies and enhance the songs with his signature exceptional voice.
The band's last major headlining tour dates (like the previous album) from 2007 - a long time, but the echoes of their shows still reverberate: The band's loyal fans are currently proving in the U.S. that independent bands like Tiger Army don't lose their appeal. This is in light of absolute genre classics like "II: The Power Of Moonlite" and entire coffins full of hits (think "Outlaw Heart", "Incorporeal", "Cupid's Victim", "Rose Of The Devil's Garden", or "Forever Fades Away") also come as little surprise. It's not for nothing that songs like these got the band on joint tours with, among others, Social Distortion and Morrissey.
The good news: Finally, you can look forward to well-tried rockers and new singles like "Prisoner Of The Night" in this country, too, because the Californian trio will be hitting our stages in autumn. Every bet that the audience fervently holds also in this country: Tiger Army Never Die!
