TimeRide Frankfurt offers new virtual reality experiences on the occasion of the Paulskirchenfest. The first democratic National Assembly can thus be relived virtually - and in the midst of the historic site of the Paulskirche. With the "Germany Time Travel", more than 2,000 years of German history will also be shown as if in fast motion as a mobile virtual reality time travel on Paulsplatz. Developed in cooperation with the city's Tourismus+Congress GmbH (TCF), the time travel will be offered permanently in Frankfurt after the Paulskirchenfest as part of a TimeRide GO! city tour. The TimeRide Senseum with the time travel to Frankfurt of 1891 offers extended opening hours during the festivities.

A virtual time travel to the first National Assembly of 1848

In the middle of the Paulskirche, the first National Assembly celebrates its virtual renaissance: guests can use mobile virtual reality glasses to experience excerpts of the highly emotional session of 18. May 1848 as if they had taken part themselves. The ceremonial entry of the deputies and the heated debates of the first hours can be directly recreated thanks to virtual 360-degree scenes. Virtual reconstructions also illustrate the appearance of St. Paul's Church at the time and the role of personalities such as the oldest member of the National Assembly. The birth of parliamentary democratic traditions in Germany thus comes alive again in the historic site of the Paulskirche.

The Germany Time Travel

At Paulsplatz, the virtual "Germany Time Travel" allows visitors to experience over 2,000 years of German history in fast motion. The virtual reality experience takes guests on a fast-paced journey to milestones in German history from the Romans at the Limes to the fall of the Berlin Wall. In the process, they immerse themselves in the historical scenes up close with mobile virtual reality glasses and become eyewitnesses themselves to turning points in Germany's history. The virtual journey through time provides an emotional and impressive overview of formative events and locations in German history. Fourteen scenes from different cities and eras are highlighted: For example, the departure of Emperor Barbarossa for the Crusade in Regensburg, a knights' tournament in Munich, but also the leap into modern times in 19th century Frankfurt. For the finale, the "Germany Time Travel" finally takes its guests to 20th century Berlin. "With the virtual rebirth of the first National Assembly in the Paulskirche, a key moment for German democracy and Frankfurt's city history can be relived directly," explains Jonas Rothe, founder and managing director of TimeRide GmbH. "This emotional approach opens up a novel perspective on the city of Frankfurt and its great historical significance for the development of democratic traditions for locals and visitors alike." City Councilor and Head of the Department of Economic Affairs Stephanie Wüst is also looking forward to the program items with excitement: "Thanks to the VR glasses, historical events, such as the Paulskirchen Assembly 175 years ago, can be brought to life. The exciting weeks and months that led to the first democratic constitution in Germany in 1848 and 1849 had a decisive impact on our city and the political culture of our country. I invite the guests of the Paulskirchen Festival to immerse themselves in this period via virtual reality and to experience key moments in our history up close."
