The Hudsons and the Nashs, two thickly-friended, not-so-young married couples, have always gone on holiday to Spain together for years. But now that their children are finally grown and their career advancement has stalled, frustration, boredom, and routine are settling into their lives. They long for a bit of variety and adventure.
And so they decide to finally take a vacation separately - the men to Scotland for a fishing trip, the ladies to Paris for a stroll. At least that's what they claim.
In reality, both the men and the women want to take advantage of their partners' absence to breathe some fresh air into their love lives. The Hudsons' apartment is chosen as the location for the amorous meetings, with the appropriate young ladies and gentlemen already organized.
The women get into a taxi together to fake a ride to the airport. And when they return, the party of the supposed straw widowers with their "young ladies" is already in full swing.
