First the former Duisburger played a lot of concerts with his band FLOWERPORNOES as well as alone. Furthermore he wrote a (still unpublished) book, had his first exhibition with drawings and became a father once again. Currently he is working together with TOBIAS LEVIN (producer of most recently TOCOTRONIC and JA PANIK among others) on his second official LIWA release for GRAND HOTEL. A line of lyrics and an album title that should be more than just a rhetorical question for Tom Liwa. The searching, the questioning, the longing for perfection drives art in general. And Tom Liwa in particular. Whereby one can hardly imagine the singer and songwriter from Duisburg, this multi-layered playman, poet and philosopher, this dream dancer and dream interpreter, throwing himself angrily, with a bloody forehead, against unyielding resistance. Rather, he runs around the wall, jumps over it, or simply walks right through it - after all, things are rarely what they seem. And that's exactly what has made Tom Liwa so fascinating ever since he appeared on the scene in the mid-eighties with the Flowerpornoes: you just can't get a hold of him. There is hardly a German songwriter who reveals so much of himself in his songs and yet remains so enigmatic. To open, floating guitar chords, he blends autobiographical with surreal lyrical images that often act as a bridge between the conscious and the subconscious.
